The two immediate projects on our plate are computer classes and sustainable farming.
With regard to computer classes, we plan to begin classes in late November. The plan is to offer two sessions for folks from the surrounding community, and one session for students from the school next door. We are presently ordering six computers, and hope to have twelve by Jan 2011. When students graduate, they will have a Microsoft certificate in Word, Excel, and Power Point, vastly increasing their job opportunities.

Due to the poverty in Zandspruit, being pregnant is not always a time to celebrate for the new mom-to-be. We meet a lot of women who wear one outfit during their entire pregnancy, women who are being abused and feeling undignified, worthless and ashamed of being pregnant. Because of this Emthonjeni Community Centres ensures not to only offer them a professional service but a space where they can feel welcomed, loved and cared for.
