Elvis Blue Music Academy Container

Thanks to a generous donation from ELB engineering the Blue Music Academy now has a blue container that they can use as a classroom. Were the kids previously just practiced and had their tutoring wherever they could find an open spot, they now have their very own space and we see this as a huge step forward for the Blue Music Iniative that might in future mean we could expand our tuition to include other types of instruments and musical skills.

Easter in Zandspruit

Wilgeheuwel Hospital staff partnered with Emthonjeni Community Centres and had an Easter Egg Drive.

On Thursday, 5 April 2012 the Easter eggs collected was distributed to over 80 children living in Zandspruit. As you can imagine, once word spread through the community children came running from all avenues.

It was truly a memorable Easter day in Zandspruit with children laughing, jumping up and down and just having fun, enjoying the Easter Festive Season!

25km Emthonjeni Cycling FUN RIDE

On the morning of the 25 February 2012 @ 05:30am ten (10) very excited men from the Zandspruit Community entered Emthonjeni Community Centres wearing their brand new Mosaiek Cycling Outfits to participate in the very first FUN RIDE of the Emthonjeni Cycling Club.

The fun ride started with an educational talk about nutrition, street etiquette and rules by two Mosaiek cycling facilitators, Johann Knoetze and Paul Albrecht after which they literally took to the streets!

FUN DAY @ Kwaggafontein

HOME MAKEOVER in Kwaggafontein

On 3 Feb 2012, Emthonjeni Community Centres teamed up with EOTE (from Rocklin, California) and Fellowship Community Church of Kwaggafontein to do a home makeover in Kwaggafontein C. The makeover included complete electrical rewiring, replacing broken windows, and beginning the repairs on the roof and doors. Magdelana and Perseverance, who live on the premises, were grateful for the work, and asked to convey their thanks to all who made this day possible.

Seniors Sewing Club @ Emthonjeni Community Centres

Emthonjeni Community Centres is excited to announce that we have twelve (12) seniors attending our senior sewing project.  They meet every Wednesday, designing and making skirts for themselves under the guidance of two volunteers from St Michael Church, Bridget and Maureen.

Sun Oven Baking Project @ Emthonjeni Community Centres

Bread Companions partnered with Emthonjeni Community Centre and will be starting a bakery that will be utilizing a Villager Sun Oven to bake bread, cakes and pastries that will be sold to the community. In 2011 twelve (12) “entrepreneurs" from Zandspruit community was trained in basic business management skills.

Seniors FUN WALK in Zandspruit

Emthonjeni Community Centres in partnership with Zandspruit Clinic organised a seniors FUN WALK on the 17th February 2012.

The goal and objective of this event was to create community wellness through exercising no matter what age you are.

Before the FUN WALK all the seniors’ blood pressure and sugar levels were tested by Zandspruit Clinic after which they started with their “pilgrimage walk” to Emthonjeni Community Centres.
