Emthonjeni Community Centres 2011 Achievements and 2012 Objectives

We would like to THANKeach partner/sponsor/donor and volunteer for your commitment and support during 2011. Thank you for your time and contributions which made it possible for us to reflect on a very successful year.

YOUR contributions are an important pillar on which the success of our projects rests and may we take this opportunity to share with you our 2011 achievements and 2012 objectives.

 

2011 ACHIEVEMENTS

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • We had 1339 moms-to-be who visited our ante-natal clinic;
  • 720 Embark breakfasts was served to ante-natal patients;
  • Group of chiropractors had two successful clinics;
  • 30 + Wheelchairs were distributed in our community;
  • 20 Free flu vaccinations were given to our seniors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • A Task Team was appointed to work on a business plan to create skills training, entrepreneurship and basic education projects. Other projects assisted us to create opportunities for the community in their pursuit to live a dignified and productive life;
  • 74 Students attended the computer school at Zandspruit and Kwaggafontein;
  • Golang continued their pre-school, aftercare and youth programs.
  • 960 Embark lunches were served to Golang pre-school children.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • 5 students attended and graduated at the Baking School;
  • 20 students were trained to be qualified “Play with a Purpose” teachers;
  • 15 students completed the Basic Entrepreneurship Course;
  • 10+ students attended the solar oven course;
  • 20 students started Basic English and Maths classes (Triple E Training);
  • Sewing project is being restructured;

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Sponsorship received assisted us to start a Cycling Club;
  • My life My Africa had a very successful soccer project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • 2400 Embark lunches were served to seniors;
  • Special tea and cake morning for the seniors was organised;
  • Vegetable garden flourishing;
  • Received much needed perishable products from Spar and distributed in to the community;
  • 200 Embark jerseys were distributed in to the community;
  • Only library in Zandspruit introduced;
  • Bridge Foundation, social services, continues to serve the community of Zandspruit;
  • 10 Trees were donated to the new school in Zandspruit;
  • 100 Christmas gifts bags were distributed to a crèche in Zandspruit.

 

 

PROPERTY

 

 

  • The Emthonjeni properties at Zandspruit and Kwaggafontein have improved in value as a result of our ongoing maintenance programs and the utilizing thereof as an income generator;
  • Process started to register Zandspruit as a serviced stand;
  • The borehole was repaired;
  • A detailed survey plan for Emthonjeni Zandspruit done;
  • Started building a Multi-purpose hall in Kwaggafontein;
  • R160 000 donated by sponsor for industrial kitchen and refurbishing started;
  • The thatch roof of the main building was repaired at a cost of R84 000.
  • We now have 5 training venues at Emthonjeni, Zandspruit.

 

 

2012 OBJECTIVES

 

  • Focus to remain on Health matters, Job Creation, Education and the properties at Zandspruit and Kwaggafontein;
  • Maximise the potential of Zandspruit and Kwaggafontein property;
  • Partner with Bread Companions launching solar baking project;
  • Partner with Elvis Blue, launching music academy for Zandspruit children;
  • Launching multi function sports field which be used by organisations and schools in and around Zandspruit;
  • Complete the multipurpose hall at Kwaggafontein;
  • Launch Project Hope: home-based care in April;
  • Achieve complete independence for general expenses;
  • Establish a solid volunteer base.
