Hi Everyone
I would just like to thank you for all your support during my Miss Africa 2010/2011 reign. I appreciate all your love and support, and will always be thank full for the contribution you made in making my year an unforgettable one.
Please take the time to read through my Miss Africa Farewell Speech
Robert Byrne said that the purpose of life is a life of purpose.Never have these words rung truer than during my reign as Miss Africa 2010. I launched the 30/Thirty Project, where I completed 30 community service projects in 30 days, while also working full-time. Collaborating with the Reach for a Dream Foundation, Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital, the Embark Foundation, and participating in Jacaranda 94.2’s Sisters with Blisters Walk, narrowed my focus to those who deserve the spotlight the most. I was honored that students from the University of Johannesburg chose me as Miss Africa 2010 to do a documentary on, with the title: beauty with a purpose.
We often learn the most important lessons from those whom we think we can teach - visiting schools and representing Florida Baby House as their ambassador has cemented this truth in my mind.
My Year as Miss Africa was the most amazing journey. Doing Charity work was what I enjoyed the most, giving back to the community and the continent by the projects that I launched. There was also the VIP appearances and functions. My Highlights was, being a model at the SA Fashion Week, I modeled for Gert Johan Coetzee. I was a guest speaker at University of Johannesburg Residence’s Mother and daughter day. I was honored to graduate this year while being Miss Africa at the University of Johannesburg in Bcom Industrial Psychology. I started to work in the corporate world full time during my reign. I Judged Miss Rainbow Nation 2010, Miss Pageants SA 2011, Talent Africa Nationals 2011, Continent Queen de Afrique 2011, and would like to thank the organizers for their confidence when asking me to be a judge. I am proud of the visibility of Miss Africa during my reign, thanks to, among others, Cover of Get It Magazine and the newly launched Miss Africa 2010, Riandi Booyens website.
I had the most amazing support throughout my year. I would like to especially mention, my mother Ada, Francois, my father, Christo and two wonderful brothers Christo jnr and Thinus. Onike, Merike, Chame, Elizma, Anneke, Sunee, Lizelle, Henriette, Jacky and Bianca you were the comfortable place I could go to any time I needed to - my most heartfelt thanks. Thank you to Anel Botha Couture for dressing me, you where not only my designer but also my friend. Skoonveld Ladies Residence, for always helping with community service projects and donations. To Carolyn Botha: Thank you for having the confidence in me and supporting me during my reign. Lots of love
Riandi
