Our vision: To assist Mozambican church leaders in reaching their communities and equip congregations to raise the standard of living within their social environment.
1. To assist Mozambican church leaders in rural areas to disciple their communities:
Mozaic is a network of western churches that assist a network of Mozambican churches (from several denominations) to reach their communities. We help Mozambican pastors articulating their visions, building a team, identify their gifts, identify community needs and implement ministries to overcome needs and in this way evangelize their community.
Leaders are assisted with church planting, evangelism efforts, church construction, leadership training, Bible training, Bibles and training materials, children's ministries, transportation.
The western churches take hands with different communities in Mozambique. Bi-annual outreaches take place where churches are built, children's ministries are run, medical outreaches, Jesus film outreaches, community visits, Bible training, ministering to Mozambicans and Mozambicans ministering us, any above all, friendships are built.
2. To equip congregations to raise the standard of living within their social environment:
Mozaic assists the local church's leadership to identify the needs in their community. Once needs are identified, we work together towards possible solutions to overcome these needs. Mozaic builds capacity (project planning, management, budgeting, accounting, computer skills, project implementation and evaluation) within the local church to address these needs. Programs are 100% community owned. Mozaic is mainly involved in programs related to primary needs (food security, water security and health).
Story of Eduardo
Eduardo Macuacua fought in Mozambique's 28 year war. Three months before the end of the war, he was shot with a gun in his back and lost the use of both his legs. Spending months in a hospital in Maputo, a nurse started sharing the gospel to him and he committed his life to Jesus. This was a remarkable decision, since both his parents are witchdoctors.
When he left the hospital he went back home where he was due to remain till the day he dies. Mozambique is in a very poor state and help for a man like himself is scarce. Being a new convert of Jesus Christ, he called for a church to help him with a Bible and so he read his Bible for many years. During these years he planted a church in his home town. One day God spoke to him in a dream to go out a plant more churches. God promised that he would help him. Eduardo went to Panda, a community 70km from his hometown to realize this vision God has given him.
It was during this time that Gerhard met to Eduardo and Mozaic started supporting Eduardo's vision. Mozaic helped Eduardo with a fully automatic quad bike to continue with church planting. To this day he has planted 10 churches in rural areas in Mozambique. Mozaic supports him with Bible training materials, church leadership seminars, built him a house in Panda and have laid the foundation for a new structure to train church leaders that were disciple by Eduardo.
