Children of the Winter

This year Embark Foundation supplied West Rand Christian Centre with enough wool to knit a 1000 jerseys. Of these jerseys 400 were donated back to the community of Claremont, 300 were donated to Dowling Primary School; a 100 to Esperanza Primary School and 200 were donated to the Golang project at Emthonjeni Community Centre in Zandspruit Informal Settlement. This initiative created work for 40 jobless mothers whom each receive a small incentive.

Senior Citizens - Nutritional Feeding Scheme

Having had the opportunity to work on the West Rand, it became clear that communities such as Claremont, Mont-Clare, Newlands, Westbury and Coronation are in great need.

The number of senior citizens aged between 75 and a 100 years living on a state pension with no additional income and barely have anything to eat on a daily basis, was brought to our attention by concerned community members.

Roodepoort Children's Court

This project is also refered to as ‘Adopt a Children's Court'.

Roodepoort Children's Court

In 2007 we became the guardians of the Roodepoort Children's Court. Our goal is to provide emotional support to the staff members as well as upgrading all their offices and facilities.

During 2009 we provided 1440 nutritional snack-packs to children who sometimes spend the entire day awaiting their court appearances.

Nutritional Food Kitchens

We prepare and serve approximately 29 835 meals per month which are given to learners at various schools.

Dowling Primary School

The ‘food-kitchen' operates five days a week during school hours.

Forest Farm

Forest Farm is a residential care facility for people living with Cerebral Palsy.

Cerebral palsy is an umbrella like term used to describe a group of disorders causing impaired control of movements that usually appear in the first few years of life and generally do not worsen over time. Many people with cerebral palsy are also affected by other medical disorders including seizures or mental impairment, but cerebral palsy does not always cause profound handicap.
